Ross Johnson

Community Development Director


Ross Johnson was promoted to Community Development Director after serving the City of Stilwell as Code Enforcement officer for two years.


He supervises Code Enforcement, Animal Control and Maintenance staff.


“Our goals are to help improve and grow the City of Stilwell,” Johnson said.


 Recent improvement his department has made are adding a Japanese maple, two Spruce trees, a rose bush and decorative bushes along the front of the right main garden by City Hall. They also updated the gazebo, stage and fishing dock at Adair Park.


Specialized skills or training from previous jobs that have helped him prepare for this work, include being a deputy, natural gas field specialist, and electric foreman.


Mayor Jean Ann Wright said, “Ross Johnson has proven to be a dedicated public servant who understands the inner workings of our city.”

“Transitioning from code enforcement to community development is a natural fit; Ross knows our neighborhoods, understands our standards, and has the vision needed to drive strategic growth. I have full confidence that he will excel in leading this department,” said Wright.


Johnson said he enjoys a lot about his job, including the people he works with at City Hall and many really nice people in the Stilwell community.

“I enjoy the variety, challenges, and being part of the improvements and growth of the city,” said Johnson.


What makes the City of Stilwell a good place to work? “The residents have a lot of pride for the city and are very friendly,” he said. “Stilwell is a very scenic area of Oklahoma.”


Johnson is married to Trinity, and enjoys hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and working out.
