The City of Stilwell Police Department is pleased to announce they have earned the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group Lexipol award for the second year in a row.
This recognition is for all members of the department successfully completing the online training course.
“OMAG sends out monthly training scenarios for the police officers to take. They learn about difficult situations and what the policy tells them to do, then they’re tested on the material, with 22 to 32 questions,” said Police Chief Chad Smith.
The department earned Elite Status this time. Last year they earned Gold status.
“Every officer has completed the training and all the policy acknowledgements OMAG requires,” Smith said.

Officer Darrel Dugger said it’s pretty much a refresher. “It’s good for our department, it helps us stay on track for our updated policies,” said Dugger.
Topics of policy are inclusive, and range from vehicle pursuit, and use of force, to animal control and media relations.
This training protects the city’s liability, because the officers know their policies,” Smith said.
And it keeps the officers up to date on new policies when laws change. “It also gives us opportunities for discussion among the officers,” said Smith.
