Yards of Summer

The City of Stilwell is hosting a Best Yards of Summer contest to recognize those who keep clean, attractive and well-maintained property in town.

The goal is to recognize and encourage citizens who spruce up their yards, have homes that are inviting from the curb, and perhaps plant flowers or other decor to enhance the appearance. Citizens choose the winners.

Mayor Jean Ann Wright and her husband, Shawn, say they love to support the community, even driving the city limits to choose favorites as they have done for Yard of the Month and Christmas Light contests. This time, the community will vote online. Mayor’s Choice awards will also be given.

To submit an entry photo, email it to renee@cityofstilwell.com, along with address of the home and why they are being nominated.

Photo submission will be for one week. It will begin Tuesday, July 15, with the deadline to submit photos for the contest Monday, July 21.

Voting will last one week, July 24-30.

“We enjoy driving around Stilwell and seeing how beautiful it’s becoming. We appreciate all those who make an effort to keep their home’s curb appeal attractive. We hope citizens will enjoy the challenge of the contest and do a little more to improve the appearance of their home,” said Wright.

This is the only way to enter a photo of a home or business into the contest. Do not text a photo to the mayor or other friends who work for the city, as using this email will allow the people coordinating the event to keep track of all entries.

Each entry will be posted on the City of Stilwell Facebook page, then placed on the website to a designated page with other entry photos.

To vote, go to the City of Stilwell.com website and Yard of the Summer page and vote. One vote per person. Winners will be announced Friday, Aug. 1.
