The Best Yards of Summer voters have spoken, and the winner is House number 1. The new event was intended to encourage and celebrate citizens who keep a tidy and clean property, and those who enjoy gardening and flowers did not go unnoticed. Between July 24 - 30, 155 people voted for eight entries. Yard number 1 received 78 votes, or 50.3 percent of the votes. Yard number 8 was second with 38 votes and 24.5 percent of the votes. The third place was Yard number 2 with 18 votes and 11.6 percent of the votes. All other yards received at least three votes and up to 12.

“We are always happy to show appreciation to our citizens who take pride in their homes, and keep them pretty, clean and with curb appeal. It takes effort to pick up trash, mow the lawn and trim hedges, but it makes homeowners property and Stilwell look good,” said Mayor Wright. “Thank you to those who participated and to everyone who cares enough to keep a tidy property.”

The City of Stilwell hosted a Best Yards of Summer contest to recognize those who keep clean, attractive and well-maintained property in town.

The goal is to recognize and encourage citizens who spruce up their yards, have homes that are inviting from the curb, and perhaps plant flowers or other decor to enhance the appearance. Citizens choose the winners.

Mayor Jean Ann Wright and her husband, Shawn, say they love to support the community, even driving the city limits to choose favorites as they have done for Yard of the Month and Christmas Light contests. “We enjoy driving around Stilwell and seeing how beautiful it’s becoming. We appreciate all those who make an effort to keep their home’s curb appeal attractive. This time, the community will vote online. Mayor’s Choice awards will also be given," said Mayor Wright.

"We hope citizens will enjoy the challenge of the contest and do a little more to improve the appearance of their home,” said Wright.

Each entry was posted on the website on a designated page with other entry photos. Voting took place July 24-30, 2025. Winners will be announced on Friday, August 1st.
