MAYOR'S DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY
WHEREAS, the City of Stilwell, Oklahoma, has and is continuing to experience by a significant weather-related emergency, including severe thunderstorms, tornado activity, and flooding, which poses a threat to the health, safety, and welfare of the public; and
WHEREAS, said weather event has caused and is expected to continue to cause damage to property, disruption of essential public services, hazardous travel conditions, and other threats to
life and property; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Oklahoma Emergency Management Act of 2003 (63 O.S. §683.11), the City of Stilwell is authorized to declare a state of emergency and to take necessary actions to protect the public; and
WHEREAS, emergency conditions exist within the corporate limits of the City of Stilwell that warrant immediate action and the implementation of emergency response measures.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Jean Ann Wright, Mayor of the City of Stilwell, Oklahoma, by virtue of the authority vested in me by law and the City Charter, do hereby declare a State of Emergency in the City of Stilwell, effective May 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m.
FURTHER, I hereby order the activation of the City's Emergency Operations Plan and direct all City departments and agencies to take all necessary steps to implement emergency procedures,
coordinate response efforts, and provide for the health and safety of our residents.
This Declaration shall remain in effect until such time as the emergency has subsided and a proclamation is issued declaring its termination.
